Thank You for Making Our Inaugural Golf Tournament in Maryland a Success

Peoples Powered by Hanscom Federal Credit Union, in partnership with the Hanscom Federal Credit Union Charitable Foundation, hosted its inaugural golf tournament at the Chester River Yacht & Country Club, bringing together members, veterans, and community leaders for a day of philanthropy, networking, and community impact.

The event underscored the organization’s ongoing commitment to supporting military members, veterans, and local small businesses.

“Events like this demonstrate the power of community and our shared responsibility to give back,” said Peter Rice, President and CEO of Hanscom Federal Credit Union. “We are proud to support the organizations and individuals who have served our country, while also investing in the success of local businesses that help our communities thrive.”

The tournament featured a full day of golf, including closest-to-the-pin and longest drive contests, along with opportunities for local businesses to engage with participants and showcase their services. The day concluded with a luncheon and awards reception, celebrating both athletic achievements and collective contributions to the cause.

“Our inaugural tournament was a tremendous success and a reflection of the strong relationships we’ve built across the region,” said Randy Robey, Regional President of Peoples Powered by Hanscom Federal Credit Union. “We’re honored to support veterans’ organizations and local nonprofits, and we look forward to growing this event in the years ahead to expand its impact.”

The event also highlighted the Hanscom Federal Credit Union Charitable Foundation’s broader mission to empower military members, veterans, and their families by promoting financial wellness and creating pathways to meaningful careers. As part of its continued efforts, the Foundation recently donated $14,000 to several Maryland-based veterans organizations, including Betterton American Legion Post 246, Rock Hall American Legion Post 228, Millington VFW, Centreville American Legion Post 18, Easton American Legion Blake Blackston Post, Easton American Legion Talbot Post 70, and the US Colored Troops Memorial Fund. Additionally, Peoples Powered by Hanscom Federal Credit Union has contributed $40,000 annually to community organizations over the past decade.

With strong participation and community support, the inaugural tournament sets the stage for continued growth and impact in the years to come.
